Gifts are received by Youth Refugees United For Development at Centenary Bank, Isingiro, Uganda — an account in the organisation’s name, not an individual’s. Card giving runs through a partner-hosted campaign for now; for a grant or a larger gift, ask us for the bank transfer instructions and we will email them straight away.

YRUD cannot take card payments on this website yet. Card gifts go through Growing Roots, the moringa appeal hosted for us on Chuffed — a fundraising platform, not YRUD’s own checkout. Chuffed shows the running total publicly and passes the money to YRUD.

Sending money from abroad
For an individual gift from another country, a money transfer service is usually cheaper and faster than a full bank wire. Remitly sends to Uganda from most countries and can deposit straight into a Ugandan bank account, and it is the one we would suggest trying first. Others that reach Uganda include WorldRemit, Wise and Sendwave.
You will need the account name and account number to enter as the recipient. Ask for them with the form below and we will email them to you — that way you have them in writing from us, rather than copied off a web page.
We are naming these services because they operate in Uganda, not because we have a relationship with any of them. Their fees and exchange rates change, and we do not receive anything for the mention. Please check the rate before you send.
Bank transfers and larger gifts
Planning a grant, an institutional contribution or a larger bank transfer? Request YRUD’s official bank transfer instructions and we will email the details for your country and currency — the account, the SWIFT code, and the correspondent bank your own bank will ask about.
A bank transfer usually carries lower payment-processing costs than a card gift, though your own bank, an intermediary bank or a currency provider may charge for the transfer itself. We would rather say that than promise nothing is deducted.
For your protection
YRUD will never ask you to redirect a gift to an individual’s personal account, and will never change these instructions by email without publishing the change on yrud.org first. If you ever receive banking details in YRUD’s name that differ from what we sent you, write to yrud.ug@gmail.com before sending anything.

YRUD is a community-based, non-profit, non-political and non-religious organisation, refugee-led and based in the Nakivale Refugee Settlement. It is registered with Isingiro District Local Government under registration number 0624, with an operating registration renewed 04 May 2026 and valid until 04 May 2028. YRUD is not a US 501(c)(3), so a gift is not tax-deductible in the United States.
The account is held in the organisation’s name, not an individual’s. Justin Buma, Founder and Executive Director, is based in Nakivale and is accountable for how gifts are used. YRUD’s international advisors provide strategic guidance only; they do not govern the organisation.
