Accountability

What we can prove, and what we only propose

Registration evidence, how we monitor and report, how we keep people safe, how we handle information and photographs, and where our money comes from. Nothing on this page is aspirational unless it says so.

Monitoring, evaluation and honest reporting

How we decide what we are allowed to say about our own work.

Honest labelling

Every project on this site carries a status and a provenance label. A proposal is labelled a proposal. A target is labelled a target. Past work recorded by YRUD is labelled YRUD-documented and is not presented as audited impact.

No borrowed outcomes

We do not use another organisation's results, or findings from research carried out elsewhere, as evidence of what YRUD has achieved in Nakivale.

Monitoring that people can check

Each funded project records what was delivered, where, and to how many households, with the method of counting stated so a partner can test it.

Learning in the open

Where something did not work — a borehole yield, a training that people could not attend — we report it and say what changed as a result.

Community feedback

Concerns can be raised in person with the Executive Director or by phone or email. Complaints about safeguarding are handled as described below.

Safeguarding

Our commitment

Children, women, girls, older people and people with disabilities must be safe in every activity YRUD runs. Anyone working or volunteering with YRUD is expected to behave accordingly, and abuse, exploitation or harassment is grounds for removal.

In practice

Activities with children take place in open, visible settings with more than one adult present. Sensitive sessions, including menstrual-health and protection work, are led by women. Distribution lists are drawn up with community representatives rather than by one person alone.

Raising a concern

A concern can be raised in person in Nakivale, by phone on +256 780 947 936, or by email to yrud.ug@gmail.com. Concerns are treated confidentially, the person raising them is not required to give their name, and no one is penalised for reporting in good faith.

Referral

Where a concern involves a criminal offence or a child at risk, YRUD refers it to the appropriate settlement protection and district authorities and cooperates with them.

Privacy

What we collect

For programme work: names, household size and location of participants, kept only where it is needed to deliver or report on an activity. On this website: nothing beyond what your browser sends and what you choose to send us by email.

How it is used

Participant information is used to plan activities and to report to funders in aggregate. We do not sell or trade personal information, and we do not publish identifying details without consent.

Storage and access

Records are kept by YRUD with access limited to the staff who need them. Photographs and their consent records are held in a private store; only images cleared for public use appear on this site.

Your choices

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for a correction, or ask us to stop using your photograph. Write to yrud.ug@gmail.com.

How we are funded

YRUD is funded project by project. When a proposal is funded, that project is delivered and reported. When it is not, the work waits. This section sets out where support comes from today and what YRUD would like to build towards.

Today

Support comes from individual givers, partner organisations and grant applications, alongside contributions of labour, land and time from the community itself. There is no endowment, no reserve fund, and no unrestricted income of any size.

Payouts

Funds are received into the bank account registered in the organisation's name. Online card and mobile-money giving is being arranged; until it is live, transfers are arranged directly with YRUD.

A long-term fund — strategic vision only

YRUD would like, over time, to build a long-term fund whose income could cover core costs so that programmes are not interrupted between grants. This is a direction for discussion with partners. It is a proposal, not a plan with money behind it.

What we would use it for

If such a fund were ever established, its purpose would be continuity: keeping water infrastructure maintained, keeping trainers in place, and keeping safeguarding and reporting staffed between grant cycles.

To be unambiguous: YRUD does not hold an endowment or long-term fund. Nothing described above exists as money today. It is a strategic vision offered for discussion with partners.
